Indie Film Cycle Script

I was going to copy and paste the script, but the formatting was terrible. Then I was going to offer the .pdf version, but...you can't offer any kind of downloads with blogger.

So I did some screen shots of the script and dropped them below. They are in order. Enjoy!

It's a script highlighting how the impetus to create stories all begins. For myself, it wasn't exactly like this situation. But a gradual realization that I wanted to make movies. Enjoy!

  1. Captain Fancy Pants here,

I really enjoyed this script. The entire time I was laughing, not because it wasn't written well or anything like that, I just really liked the chemistry and conversation the two main characters had between each other.

Stan and Fred disagreed on a few things which made for a funny and light hearted dynamic. The bit with the onion was really good.

It all seemed to happen very fast, your realization that you could make movies. Was there any particular movie that inspired you? Any particular movie that made you realize you wanted to do this?

  2. I had many different inspirations growing up. Bad movies made me think, "if they can do that, why can't I?" and good movies inspired me to try to accomplish that level of storytelling. But I also grew up through the 80s and 90s, so of course, I'm all about Spielberg, Zemeckis, Scorcese, Soderbergh, Linklater and countless others. I devoured every movie I could - big studio films, indie films, foreign, underground, anything I could get my hand on. Still do, if possible. They all inspire.

I love the storytelling in Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and any of the Indiana Jones movies. (even the 4th one) The dialogue in any David Mamet movie. The action scenes that a Tony Scott or John McTiernan directed. I could go on and on, but needless to say....a lot of movies inspire me.

  3. Alex,
This is great! I love the simplicity of it yet it conveys every filmmakers feeling before, during and after the production. I share the feeling of being extremely confident and headstrong before and during and then when it gets to post I'm like "why the hell do I keep thinking I can make movies" and then everyone seems to enjoy it. It really personifies the range of emotions and tribulations we go through. Very well written and a great read. Well done and Thanks for sharing!

  4. Alex,

Nicely done. This shows what everybody is curious about. It looks into the minds of film makers, and shows that you need to take action if you want to create something.

This sounds like it could be a good ad. Is there any way you could tie this into your product? There is an opportunity to make this persuasive.
